“Being” Rediscovered: New Insights into Ancient Wisdom on Reality and Self

For time immemorial, humanity has sought to understand itself and its place in the ever-expanding universe. Philosophers, scientists, and spiritual seekers have grappled with the nature of awareness, the origins of our perceived reality, and the essence of being.

  • Who and what is humanity?
  • How did we get here?
  • What is behind or beyond life?
  • What is the purpose of living it?

Consciousness and Being

Few topics are as captivating and elusive as consciousness and being. They form the bedrock of existence, yet we understand very little about them. Many people never think beyond the compulsion of material life or explore deeper questions. It’s only when life’s struggles become unbearable. Even then, few discover a lasting realization that can withstand the continuous flow of conscious existence and the unfolding of creation. It seems that nothing in our universe, including truth, is solid. Yet we seek resolution with an innate conviction that it exists. Why? Because we can.

The Capacity for Consciousness

We possess the capacity to experience and understand our existence. We are conscious, most of us. It is mind-boggling when you stop and think about it. We are so immersed in this consciousness and being that we barely perceive it and often take it for granted. Like fish in water, we are oblivious to the substrate supporting us. Thankfully, an ever-growing conversation is deepening this aspect of ourselves. While reaching a collective agreement on a cohesive definition of consciousness and being is ever-evolving, we are on the brink of a paradigm shift.

Interwoven Fabric of Creation

Imagine a reality where consciousness is not merely a by-product of evolutionary forces, but is interwoven into the very fabric of creation and existence. In this view, consciousness transcends being just an emergent property of complex biological systems—more than just thoughts and memories. Instead, it forms the very foundation of creation, enabling the integral realization of “I am.” To achieve this, consciousness must engage with another fundamental aspect of existence: the infinite field of being. Through this interaction, all of creation arises.

This idea challenges the empirical paradigm of modern understanding. However, it is gaining traction across various disciplines, including quantum physics, neuroscience, philosophy, and spirituality. It bridges the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science, allowing timeless truths to be recognized through a contemporary scientific lens.

The Unified Field of Being

This new paradigm suggests that beneath the Planck scale—the smallest measurable length in physics—lies a state of “true being.” This state holds all possibilities, all experiences, all expressions, everything that could ever be, within complete unity. This foundational essence can be thought of as infinite energy, eternally available, the building blocks of all form without form itself. Due to its unified nature, there is no separation, no distinctions—nothing to perceive from the outside. All is within it, and all emerges from it.

Due to its nature as being, opposed to doing, there is no motion, no change—it is complete stillness and, therefore, completely invisible and imperceptible in and of itself, hence we cannot empirically measure it. Just as laminar flow is only recognized when it encounters resistance or impedance, this state of true beingness becomes apparent only through the manifestation of form and experience in our perceivable reality.

Expression and Self-Reflection

Experience and expression, the core aspects that make up existence when unified, emerge when this stillness moves through conscious collapse. Like the quantum observer effect, this self-reflection creates the duality we perceive as mind, matter, energy, and form. All of which become fractal metaphors, ripples through the stillness, reminding us that our universe is consciousness exploring itself through myriad emergent forms to remember its true formless nature.

Ancient Wisdom Across Cultures

This concept has been passed down throughout time and civilization. In the East, we find the idea of Brahman, that which is transcendental and beyond all qualities and attributes, described as “neti, neti”—not this, not that. A negation highlighting how impossible this truth is to convey within language and the realization that any attempts to describe what it is will only circle around what it is not.

In Hebrew mystical traditions, we find the concept of Ein Sof. An idea in Kabbalah that translates to “without end” or “infinite” and relates to the unmanifested aspects of the Creator and its boundless nature. From which all creation emanates. It is the ultimate source, the undifferentiated oneness.

The Pendulum of Truth

The stories of humanity have always hinted that the true nature of reality is beyond the empirically perceptible one we operate within. Built upon the scaffold of understanding that preceded us, the nouns and verbs of factual acceptance, it seems that the pendulum of truth is swinging back toward the infinite once again. This breaks down the separation between natural and supernatural, allowing the mystery and wonder of metaphor to draw us forward, or rather back, into the unknown.

The Interface of Reality and Perception

Why does this matter? How does this relate to our everyday experience?

Our perceived reality—the world we see, hear, and touch—is sophisticated. Our brains and sensory systems act as filters, creating a manageable interface between our individual consciousness and the vast sea of energetic information around us. Essentially, we are active participants in creating our reality. That’s the miracle of our biology. We are not simply passive observers of an external world. Doing vs. Being

All of that awareness and identity, though, belong to the world of doing. It is active, and interpretive. It understands itself through the dance, the motion, the interaction with the stillness, not as the stillness. If we came to realize that the nature of creation itself, what everything emerges from and will one day return to, is stillness, it would fundamentally shift the way we perceive the universe and our place in it. It would mean that to truly live, to truly create, to truly exist is simply to “be” and not to “do.” You begin to recognize yourself as the active expression of this source being, having a conscious experience of itself. This shift, like the original state of being it reflects, is immeasurable.

Personal and Collective Transformation

The ability to communicate these higher ideas through the language of science and spirituality is crucial. These are core aspects of ourselves on a deep neurobiological level. Connecting the symbols of our spirit with the signals of our logic is imperative to unlocking the true nature of reality.

As a species, we represent a unique expression of universal awareness. Our capacity for self-reflection and abstract thought isn’t just a quirk of evolution but a manifestation of the universe’s intrinsic drive toward self-awareness. By exploring our consciousness, we discover the essence of existence and connect with the most fundamental level of creation. In doing so, we realize ourselves in and through higher forms of creation, healing ourselves, others, and this planet.

Bridging Science and Spirituality

The Divine Remembering offers a framework that bridges long-standing divides between science and spirituality, creating a unified perspective that honors empirical observation and subjective experience. It provides context for phenomena that have long puzzled researchers, from the placebo effect to the healing power of meditation. Recognizing the constructed nature of our reality and the interconnectedness of all things cultivates greater empathy, enables more conscious choices, and allows you to achieve deeper awareness.

The Adventure Begins Now

As we stand at this exciting juncture, the precipice of higher perspective makes it clear that we are only scratching the surface of what’s possible. As we explore what creation—from the quantum level to the cosmic scale—truly entails, it promises to be one of our time’s most thrilling and fulfilling scientific and philosophical adventures. This journey of discovery isn’t for academics or spiritual adepts alone; it is for all of us. By staying curious, open-minded, and willing to challenge our assumptions, we can take part and contribute to this evolving understanding of Being Conscious.
